There are only a few days left to submit to the Atlantis Award. Deadline is December 15th. Submit up to 3 poems. We nominate for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net Anthology, and The Best New Poets Anthology. 

The Atlantis Award is given to a single best poem. The winning poet receives $300 and will be featured in an interview on The Poet’s Billow web site. The winning poem will be published and displayed in the Poet’s Billow Literary Art Gallery. Finalists will be considered for publication.

The Bermuda Triangle Prize is given to three poems on a theme from up to three different poets.

Current Theme: Relationships (2023-2024 Theme)

We are open to interpretations on the theme: love, friendship, companionship; losing relations, relationships to animals, plants, and objects; relationships between ecosystems or among the stars. Send us your interpretation however literal or liberal.

Each winning poem will receive $50, for a total cash prize of $150. The poems will be published and displayed in the Poet’s Billow Literary Art Gallery. Up to five finalists will be considered for publication.

We nominate for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net Anthology, and The Best New Poets Anthology.

Katharyn Howd Machan’s most recent published collections are Dark Side of the Spoon (Moonstone Press, 2022) and A Slow Bottle of Wine (Comstock Writers, Inc., 2020). A professor in the Department of Writing at Ithaca college, she lives in Central New York with her beloved spouse Eric Machan Howd. After many years of coordinating the Ithaca Community Poets and directing the national Feminist Women’s Writing Workshops, Inc., she was selected to be her county’s first poet laureate. Her poems have appeared in numerous magazines, anthologies, textbooks, and stage productions, and she has edited three thematic anthologies, most recently a tribute collection celebrating the inspiration of Adrienne Rich.

After Nils Nelson left the University of Arizona with a Janitorial Certificate (and a B.A. in English), he earned an M.A. in Creative Writing at Cal State Fresno, ’74.  His poems have appeared in Seneca Review, Ironwood, Crazyhorse, Partisan Review and other suspects, with a new poem due in the Irish magazine, Channel. An avid golfer and award-winning golf writer and editor, his articles have been in numerous national golf magazines. Nils Lives in Tucson, where he’s polishing a full-length manuscript.

Tresha Faye Haefner is the winner of the 2022 Pangaea Prize. Her poetry appears, or is forthcoming in several journals and magazines, most notably Blood Lotus, Blue Mesa Review, The Cincinnati Review, Five South, Hunger Mountain, Mid-America Review, Pirene’s Fountain, Poet Lore, Prairie Schooner, Radar, Rattle, TinderBox and Up the Staircase Quarterly. Her work has garnered several accolades, including the 2011 Robert and Adele Schiff Poetry Prize, and a 2012, 2020, and 2021 nomination for a Pushcart. Her first manuscript, “Pleasures of the Bear” was a finalist for prizes from both Moon City Press and Glass Lyre Press. It is still looking for a publisher.  Find her at www.thepoetrysalon.com.

Current Theme: Water & Earth (2022-2023 Theme)

We are open to interpretations on the theme: drought, floods, beverages, images from across the world; ice, fire; seeds, drops of dew on the back of an ant. Send us your interpretation however literal or liberal.

Each winning poem will receive $50, for a total cash prize of $150. The poems will be published and displayed in the Poet’s Billow Literary Art Gallery. Up to five finalists will be considered for publication.

We nominate for the Pushcart Prize, Best of the Net Anthology, and The Best New Poets Anthology.

Guidelines:

As entries will be read blindly, your name and contact information should not appear on the poems themselves.

Simultaneous submissions are accepted as long as you send an email if a poem needs to be withdrawn. Multiple submissions are allowed with a paid submission fee for each set of three poems.

Each entry of three poems costs $10 and should be paid through paypal and the poems submitted by email to thepoetsbillow@gmail.com. Please format subject line (First Last name — Bermuda Triangle)

Please submit all poems in one document and attach it to the email.

Pangaea Prize

The Pangaea Prize is awarded for the best series of poems ranging between two and up to seven poems in a group.

Judging will be based on poems as individual entities as well as their cohesiveness – that can be in terms of common themes, images, narrative or however else you would like to group your poems. All poems must be previously unpublished.  There are no restrictions to length or style.

Join us for Wednesday Workshop

 

Wednesday Workshop is an online poetry workshop held weekly where participants share one poem which receives feedback from other workshop participants and a workshop leader who is an award winning poet. These are small groups, so space is limited.

 

Time: Every Wednesday @ 12:00pm PST/ 3:00pm EST
Length: 1 hour Session
Size: 1-5 participants
Cost: $35
